Musical Sandwich: Africa, India, Africa

There are something that inspire us or that we like. Sometimes we can pin point exactly it is that we like in it and other times....there no reason.

On the whole technology is ok. But it has its perks. Accessibility to the formerly inaccessible.

But for these videos there are reasons, far to many reasons.

Music and the Video

I have recently seen alot of different music videos which I have thought to myself, "Quality Music and Quality video".

There is something to be said about music and the video which combine the sound and the sight.

For example you have a music video like Billie Jean or Butterfly.

It seems that there is no relation between the music and the video.

Or there is so much connection between the music and the video that it above most mortals heads.

Then you have videos that embody the music.

The great thing of all this is the variety.

Nothing says "Summer" like....

There is nothing that says "Summer" in Argentina like Sun, Pool, Food and Music.

I arrived at about 11 am this morning and the weather was pristine.

Tinted with humidity and with a light breeze. Perfect.

Sun. Check.

Pool. I just got out of the pool. Clear water, warm on the top and cool on the bottom.

Pool. Check.

Food. Tonight I am going to hang out with some good friends and have some picadas.

Food. Check.

Music. Im listening to Fool's Gold.

Music. Check. Check them out.

All is ready. Check.

Retrospectivity

These last two weeks I have been visiting my family in the USA. NY and ME.
We laugh, talk about the old times, think about the future, eat alot, etc.

But as I was looking at pictures of my family member in Italy or Korea, I thought to myself, "What is it going to be like when I look at pictures of myself in 20 years?"
What was the cool thing then? What is it now?
Processions of fads and styles, soon to end. Then to start a new.

We live life in the present future, but the future will soon be our past.

This Maine.

For the last week I have been in Maine, visiting, eating, freezing.
These are some of the things you do when in Maine.

Happy BDAY to my Dad!

The Polaroid Aesthetic

Why is it that polaroids always look great?
This is something that I have been thinking about a lot recently of.

1. vintage nature of the apparatus system
2. the instantaneousity of the picture
3. the low focus and blurriness of the shoots
4. the maraca like shaking to reveal a shot

I think its all of them.
Yet there is one reason that reigns.
Pictures need frames....well mostly. I general they look good with frames.
Polaroids already have this white framework margin included into the picture. Thus situating it in space.

My dear friend Beth, just told me of this great website, which has great polariods ranging from 1979 to 1997. http://photooftheday.hughcrawford.com/ is a great website check out cause: the polariods serve as historical time capturing devices.
Make sure to check it out.

New York with Friends

The other day I was able to go visit some of my favorite people in the big apple.

The downside ..... it was 22 degrees and strong wind. Basically I froze, but it was totally worth it

Rainbow Arabia to Maine

Today on the long road to Maine. I found on my Ipod an intriguing band called "Rainbow Arabia".
As I looked out the cold winter road I listened to a reminder that there is more than just winter.

There in the beats of this dynamic duo lay a tropical-arabesque that made me want to dance in the car. Reminiscent of a Gang Gang Dance and M.I.A they throw some hard hitting beats couple with some bouncing sonic power.

Check it out their great EP

SLACKER (1991)

People ask me, "Whats one of your favorite movies?"
I tell people that one of my favorite movies is SLACKER (Richard Linklater).
(He also directed School of Rock, Dazed and Confused, Before Sunset).
(My favorite movies of his are Slacker and the Waking Life).

Then they ask, "What is it about?"

I look at them. I usually respond with "Well, its about nothing. Yet about everything."

Blank stares.

Flo-Rida: Parte 3

This is the last of the pictures from our southern voyage to the ever sunny Florida.

We did everything from eat highway oranges, hang out with friends, walk into Art museums, shop at underpriced outlets, walk on cold beaches to laughing at people who were sun bathing on the frigid beach.

All in all. We had fun in the cold sun.

Florida: Ft. Lauderdale/ Miami/Lakeworth

Because of how the world works, I spend the beginning part of this new decade in Florida.

It was a sober reminder that I am getting old. Either that or everybody else is getting old.
Being in Florida reminded me of this fact.
While I was here somebody said something "Florida where the US goes to die."
With this all in mind I began my year. Having fun yet reminded to make the most of my days.
These are the pictures of this fun time.
